Touch

“Touch has a memory.”
― John Keats

Touch, or more specifically, comfort, is very important to your guests.

If they are not comfortable, they will not stay long!

Sit and Stay a While

Have plenty of seating.  It can be elaborate such as couches, or as simple as folding chairs.   You can also rent folding chairs from rental companies very inexpensively or ask guests to bring a folding camping chair.

Temperature

Be sure the temperature in your space is right - not too hot or too cold.

I threw a Christmas party one year.  I had a roaring fire in the fireplace, and candles lit everywhere.  It was pretty toasty.  But since it was winter and cold outside, a lot of my guests wore sweaters.   So needless to say they were a little bothered.   The next year, I used a Duraflame log instead of real wood.   So I got the ambiance I was looking for without the extra heat.   Much better!

If your outdoor event runs into the evening, no need to end the fun!  Have some cozy throws handy for guests to use.

Gloves are also a nice touch.  You can buy extras for cheap when stores have their winter clearance sales.

For outdoor summertime festivities, make sure you have plenty of shade available.   Provide seating under shade trees or portable awnings.  Or use umbrellas!

Fans are another great way to keep cool.

Comfort Station

Provide your guests with extra comforts.

For summertime, you might want to include sunscreen, bug spray, and sunglasses.

For winter, tissues, lotion, and chapstick.
