Small table, but lots of food? Try going buffet style. It’s better than cramming a lot of dishes onto the table and crowding people as they eat. It also leaves room for candles and perhaps a centerpiece.
Buffet Set-up
So what goes on the buffet table?
Arrange your serving dishes by course
Appetizers
Mains- turkey, ham, brisket, etc.
Sides - stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, casseroles, salads etc.
Desserts - can be a separate table if necessary
Pop little food sign cards in front of each dish to help everyone find their favorites quicker. You can also add notes about ingredients if your guests have food allergies or dietary restraints.
What Stays on the Dining Table?
Plates, bowls, glasses, silverware and napkins
Beverages – bottles, decanters, and/or pitchers full of what you are serving. Be sure to include water.
Bread and butter – depending on the size of your table, you may want to have several baskets of bread and plates of butter placed around for easy refills.
Any condiments such as cranberry sauce, gravy, butter and salt & pepper - again, placing multiples around the table is very convenient for your guests
