Thanksgiving - Season's Traditions
For many of us, the things that make Thanksgiving special aren't things at all, but rather the unique traditions we celebrate each year with friends and family.
There are so many fun things to do - too much for just one day! Make the most of the season and enjoy activities during the days and weeks leading up to the big day.
Make a Thanksgiving Advent Calendar
A Turkey Day version of the traditional Christmas advent calendar can be an equally beautiful tradition.
Place Thanksgiving-related treats, quotes, or gratitude activities in each pretty pocket. Pull one out each day leading up to the holiday!

Take a Family Hike
Get outside and enjoy the crisp air and fall colors.
While on your nature walk, collect items to create crafts, centerpieces and other home decor.
Go for a Fall Foliage Drive
The weeks before Thanksgiving offer the perfect opportunity to take in the gorgeous fall foliage. Get the kids out of the house and drive around admiring the leaves before they fall to the ground!
Make Mulled Cider
While you're out on your fall foliage drive, visit a local apple farm and go apple pickin'. Bring home some freshly made cider to serve on Thanksgiving day.
Bake Seasonal Cookies
Making cookies isn't just for Christmas!
Consult the Family Recipe Book
Switch up the usual Thanksgiving fare by taking a look at old family recipes or asking relatives for dishes they remember eating as kids. Be sure to test it ahead of the big day. You don't want any surprises on Thanksgiving!
Collect Canned Food
Gratitude is an integral part of Thanksgiving, and one way that can be expressed is by giving back. Make family tradition of collecting canned goods and making a donation to a local food pantry.
